Here are the steps of upgrading from SQL Server 2005 Express to SQL Server 2017 Express<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/span>Step 1: Back up restaurant data<\/div>
<\/span><\/p>\n

Before upgrading to SQL Server 2017 Express, the restaurant needs to back up existing data in SQL Server 2005. This backup data will be restored to SQL Server 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n

Open Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio. Right click on the restaurant to be backed up. Select <\/span>Tasks <\/strong>and Back Up.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Note:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

  • With Online mode, the restaurant has 1 database CUKCUK_Offline (Sale)<\/span><\/li>\n
  • With Offline mode, the restaurant has 2 databases CUKCUK_Offline (Sale) and CUKCUKENTERPRISE_{domain} (Server Enterprise)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Browse a location to save the file (with the extension .mbk)<\/span><\/p>\n

    <\/span>Step 2: Remove SQL Server 2005<\/div>
    <\/span><\/p>\n

    Open Control Panel.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

    Select Uninstall a program<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

    Search for Microsoft SQL Server 2005. Then, right click on the app and select Uninstall<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

    Check MISACUKCUKVN: Database Engine<\/strong> and Workstation Components<\/strong>. Then, click Next<\/strong>.\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

    Click Finish<\/strong> to complete the removal of the app.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

    Note:<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

    If the following message appears, it means Services SQL Server 2005 is running.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

    Go to Services<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

    Find SQL Server (MISACUKCUKVN)<\/strong>, right click on it and press Stop<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

    Next, go to the app-removing screen in the previous step and click Retry<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

    Wait for Windows to finish uninstalling the software. Then, go back to Control Panel<\/strong> and check. If you don’t see Microsoft SQL Server 2005, it means it was successfully uninstalled.<\/span><\/p>\n

    <\/span>Step 3: Install SQL Server 2017<\/div>
    <\/span><\/p>\n

    Note:<\/strong> As of the version R113.0.0.109, SQL Server 2017 is integrated in the installer.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Download Server ENT, Sale version R113.0.0.109 or later<\/span><\/p>\n

    In this step, there are 2 methods to install:<\/span><\/p>\n

    <\/div><\/span>
    \n
    <\/span>Method 1: Unzip CUKCUK installer and install SQL Server 2017 manually<\/div>
    <\/div><\/div><\/span><\/p>\n

    Right click on the CUKCUK Setup file with the extension .exe (ENT or Sale). <\/span>Select 7zip or any unzip software to unzip the file.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    \"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

    After unzipping successfully, you can see the CUKCUK Setup folder.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

    Next, open the folder: ISSetupPrerequisites\/ SQL Server 2017.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>Then, you will see the file SQLEXPR_x63_ENU.exe. Right click and select<\/span>\u00a0Run as Administrator<\/strong>. Select Yes<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    The radio Choose Directory For Extracted Files <\/strong>appear.\u00a0<\/span>Click OK.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    \"\" <\/span><\/p>\n

    In the radio SQL Server Installation Center, press<\/span>\u00a0New SQL Server stand-alone installation or add features to an existing installation.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    \"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

    Wait a moment and you will see SQL Server 2017 Setup. Click Next<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

    And then Next<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

    Check Perform a new installation of SQL Server 2017. <\/strong><\/span>Press Next<\/strong>.\"\"<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    Check I accept the license terms<\/strong>. Click Next<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

    And then Next<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

    Fill in the following information:<\/span><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Named instance: MISACUKCUKVN<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Instance ID: MISACUKCUKVN<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Note: You must fill in the above information exactly, otherwise CukCuk cannot connect with SQL Server.<\/span><\/p>\n

      Click Next<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

      Click Next<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

      \"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

      Check\u00a0 Mixed Mode (SQL Server authentication and Windows authentication). <\/strong><\/span>Enter the following information:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

      • Enter password:\u00a0abcABC123<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Confirm password:\u00a0abcABC123<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Click Next<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

        Click Close <\/strong>to complete.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

        \"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

        SQL Server 2017 has been installed successfully.<\/span><\/p>\n

        <\/span>Method 2: Install directly from the installer<\/div>
        <\/div><\/div><\/span><\/p>\n

        First, uninstall the old version of CukCuk. Then install the just-downloaded version of CukCuk. After installing it, do not log in but restore data.<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

        Here are the steps to restore data:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

        Open Microsoft SQL Server Studio Management.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>Enter the following information:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

          \n
        • ServerName: .\\MISACUKCUKVN<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Authentication: SQL Server Authentication<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Login: sa<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Password: abcABC123<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Click Connect<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

          On Database <\/strong>folder, right click and select Restore Database<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

          \"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

          On Device,\u00a0<\/strong>click on the icon ...<\/span><\/p>\n

          \"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

          Select Add<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

          \"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

          Navigate to the path to save the .mbk backup file. Change the combo box selection to All Files (*) to see the backup file. Click OK<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

          \"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

          Click OK<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

          \"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

          Click OK<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

          Wait for the run to finish and this message will appear.<\/span><\/p>\n
